UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has added new outpatient pediatric services in Erie, Pennsylvania, with the opening of a rehabilitation therapy site and a separate pediatric orthopedic clinic.
The new UPMC Children’s Rehabilitation Therapies location consolidates physical, occupational and speech therapy into a single outpatient setting. The facility is positioned next to the system’s second Specialty Care Center on Peach Street, creating a centralized site for pediatric services. A pediatric orthopedic clinic on State Street began seeing patients in March.
“Delivering high-quality care close to home is central to our mission at UPMC Children’s,” said Diane Hupp, president of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. “By continuing to expand both specialty and rehab therapy services in Erie, we are making it easier for families to access the full spectrum of pediatric care their children need, while strengthening the continuity of care available in this community.”

The rehabilitation site provides evaluation and treatment for a range of conditions, including developmental delays, injuries and neurological disorders, serving patients from infancy through adolescence.
The additions expand UPMC Children’s footprint in northwest Pennsylvania, where it already operates inpatient and outpatient pediatric services. These include a nine-bed pediatric unit at UPMC Hamot, and newborn services at UPMC Magee-Womens in Erie, which has a 16-bed nursery and a 24-bed neonatal intensive care unit. The system also maintains multiple outpatient access points, including specialty care centers, community pediatric offices and an express care location.
“Today, we add to our growing list of what differentiates us from other health care organizations in the region,” said Lynn Rupp, regional chief operating officer, UPMC Physician Services Division and president, Regional Health Services. “The community relies on the nationally ranked expertise of UPMC Children’s for unmatched pediatric care for children, which now includes physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.”
