Ascension Seton will begin admitting patients to its new Ascension Seton Women’s Hospital on the campus of Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin, expanding maternity and women’s health services in Central Texas.

The Austin-based health system invested $362 million in the project. The 326,000-square-foot hospital includes 178 beds and was built to provide maternity, neonatal and women’s health care in a dedicated facility as the region’s population continues to grow.

According to Ascension Seton, the hospital offers Level IV maternal care for high-risk pregnancies and includes an expanded neonatal intensive care unit staffed by Dell Children’s neonatologists. The NICU features 84 private rooms designed to allow families to remain with their infants during treatment.

“This hospital is a reflection of our dedication to the women and families of Central Texas,” said Jamie Youssef, CEO of Ascension Texas. “We recognized the need for a space specifically designed for women, which would integrate the highest level of maternal and neonatal medicine and comprehensive care throughout all stages of life. We are thrilled to begin this new chapter in specialized, compassionate healthcare for the Austin community.”

Laura Swaney, chief strategy officer for Dell Children’s and Ascension Texas Women’s Services, said the hospital was designed to support patients’ clinical and emotional needs while keeping families together during care.

“Every detail of this hospital was thoughtfully designed to support the physical, emotional, and clinical needs of our patients,” Swaney said. “We are committed to providing a healing and comforting experience that keeps families together while delivering expert care for both mother and baby.”

The hospital also includes a heritage display honoring the Daughters of Charity and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, whose legacy is reflected throughout the Ascension health system.
