Baptist Health has completed its acquisition of South Arkansas Regional Hospital, adding the El Dorado facility to its statewide hospital network.
The 151-bed hospital, which will now operate as Baptist Health Medical Center-El Dorado, becomes the 13th hospital in the Baptist Health system. The hospital employs approximately 400 staff members.
The acquisition was first announced in March. According to Baptist Health, the transaction was intended to support the hospital’s long-term operational stability while maintaining continuity of care for patients and caregivers during the transition.

“Today marks a historic day for El Dorado and Baptist Health,” Troy Wells, president and CEO of Baptist Health, said in a statement. “By officially dedicating Baptist Health Medical Center-El Dorado, we are fulfilling our promise to secure the long-term stability of care for this vital community and committing our faith-based, Christian healing ministry to the people of South Arkansas.”
Baptist Health is Arkansas’ largest private nonprofit health system. Following the acquisition, the organization’s network includes 13 hospitals, more than 75 primary and specialty care clinics, urgent care centers, a senior living community and educational programs for nursing and allied health professionals.
