Baylor Scott & White Health is expanding specialty services and planning a new clinic in Brenham as part of a broader effort to increase local access to care across Washington, Fayette, Austin and Lee counties.
The Dallas-based not-for-profit system said it has added full-time cardiology coverage in Brenham, including on-site diagnostic testing such as stress tests and other cardiac evaluations. Surgical services have also grown to include orthopedic surgery, podiatry and urology. The organization reported expanded ophthalmology partnerships that will allow certain eye surgeries to be performed locally.
Hospital-based services are also being bolstered. Baylor Scott & White said it has increased hospital medicine and emergency medicine coverage to support inpatient and emergency department capacity. Additional growth includes infusion therapy, pain management and other therapy services.

“By expanding specialty services and strengthening key areas of the hospital, we're helping more patients receive the care they need — right here, where they live, work and raise their families,” said Jason Jennings, president, Baylor Scott & White – College Station Region.
System leaders said maternal and pediatric care remain a focus. The medical center supports OB/GYN physicians and family medicine physicians trained in obstetrics, along with advanced practice professionals, as part of its labor and delivery services.
“It is my passion and my goal to provide the best healthcare experience for every stage of growing a family,” said Dr. Eric Alford, chief medical officer of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Brenham.
In addition to service line growth, Baylor Scott & White is in early planning stages for a new clinic site in Brenham. The proposed location, near Highway 290 and close to the medical center, is expected to expand clinic capacity and add imaging and space for future specialties. Groundbreaking is anticipated in fall 2026, with completion targeted for summer 2028.
The system operates 53 hospitals across Texas and reinvests operating surpluses into facilities and services, reflecting its not-for-profit structure.
