BAMF Health and Henry Ford Health are partnering to open a new comprehensive theranostics center in downtown Detroit, expanding access to precision medicine through molecular imaging, radiopharmaceutical therapy, and clinical research.

The 45,000-square-foot facility will be located on the ground floor of the Life Sciences Building at Bedrock’s Gratiot development site. It will include a molecular imaging clinic, molecular therapy clinic, and a commercial radiopharmacy serving both patient care and research.

This marks BAMF Health’s second theranostics center, following the 2022 opening of its Grand Rapids headquarters. The Grand Rapids site has served as a model for integrating radiopharmaceutical production with clinical treatment and research under one roof.

The partnership brings together BAMF Health’s expertise in theranostics with Henry Ford Health’s long-established clinical infrastructure. In a statement, BAMF Health CEO Dr. Anthony Chang said the collaboration aims to "make precision medicine affordable and accessible to all while positioning Michigan as the national and global leader in advancing healthcare delivery and innovation.”

Dr. Adnan Munkarah, chief physician executive at Henry Ford Health, called theranostics “the next evolution in precision medicine,” and said BAMF Health was a natural partner for expanding the health system’s molecular capabilities.

The new center is intended to serve not just Detroit, but patients across Michigan and beyond. Both organizations also positioned the initiative as a driver of economic development and medical tourism.

The Detroit-based health system has been expanding its focus on population health, equity, and high-value care, and sees the center as a tool to deliver more targeted treatment options to complex patient populations.

Legal support for the partnership came from Hall Render (representing Henry Ford Health) and Bass, Berry & Sims PLC (representing BAMF Health), with Ziegler acting as financial advisor.
