BayCare has released updated plans for the Pagidipati Children’s Hospital at St. Joseph’s, a new freestanding pediatric facility slated to open in 2030.
The project will replace the current St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, expanding specialized pediatric services across West Central Florida.
The Tampa-based health system says the new hospital will serve as a regional hub for advanced pediatric care, consolidating a wide range of specialties into a purpose-built environment designed for children and families. The project is part of BayCare’s long-term strategy to increase access to high-quality pediatric services in the region.

“Pagidipati Children’s Hospital at St. Joseph’s will transform pediatric health care across our region, pairing innovation with the compassionate, family-centered care our community has come to expect from BayCare,” said Stephanie Conners, BayCare president and CEO.
The hospital’s design has been developed in partnership with architecture firm Page, now part of Stantec. Renderings show a multistory building with colorful exterior elements and lighting features that change with seasons and holidays. The interior is planned to include child-friendly spaces that prioritize wayfinding, comfort and family-centered care.
“Our vision for the new hospital is to elevate every aspect of care; blending state-of-the-art, child-focused design with advanced clinical programs across a wide range of pediatric specialties to dramatically improve the experience for children and families,” said Sarah Naumowich, president of St. Joseph’s Children’s and St. Joseph’s Women’s hospitals.
The project has been significantly funded by a $50 million donation from the Pagidipati family of Tampa, one of the largest philanthropic gifts in the region’s history. The donation honors the family’s legacy in health care and marks one of the largest charitable contributions made in the U.S. in 2024.
St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital will continue operations until the new facility is complete. Its existing programs, including pediatric oncology, cardiology, emergency medicine and chronic complex care, will be incorporated into the future site.
