Hartford HealthCare has completed its acquisition of Manchester Memorial Hospital, marking the latest expansion of the Connecticut-based health system.

The deal, finalized January 1, 2026, follows a lengthy state regulatory review and positions Hartford HealthCare as the sole owner of the hospital and its Rockville campus.

The hospital serves residents in the greater Manchester and Vernon areas. With the transaction closed, Hartford HealthCare said it intends to grow services, expand access to care, and invest in facility improvements and workforce development.

“Our goal is simple: to make sure patients can get excellent care close to home,” said Jeffrey A. Flaks, president and CEO of Hartford HealthCare. “We look forward to working with our new colleagues and the Manchester-area community to improve access, affordability and health outcomes, just as we have done with hospitals across our system.”

The $86.1 million purchase will be followed by an additional $225.7 million investment over the next three years. That funding is earmarked for clinical services, staffing, technology upgrades, and facility enhancements.

Key initiatives include the introduction of Hartford HealthCare’s specialty institute model, expanding access to advanced care in areas such as oncology, cardiology, orthopedics, neuroscience, and urology. The health system also plans to recruit physicians and care teams to broaden services in cancer care and advanced imaging.

Other planned improvements involve expanding outpatient and ambulatory care options, enhancing behavioral health services, including reopening a 30-bed unit at the Rockville campus, and developing an inpatient rehabilitation unit. Around-the-clock virtual primary care is also expected to become available year-round.

Manchester Memorial is the latest in a series of acquisitions for Hartford HealthCare, which has grown its footprint significantly across Connecticut in recent years.
