Heartland Radiology has adopted a unified suite of software from CIVIE to manage imaging operations across more than 50 facilities in five states.

The Grand Island, Nebraska-based radiology practice has implemented CIVIE’s picture archiving and communication system (PACS) and radiology information system (RIS) to replace a combination of internal systems and third-party services for data storage and billing. With the move, Heartland aims to standardize workflows across its locations in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

CIVIE’s platform is designed to consolidate clinical, operational, and administrative functions into a single environment. According to the company, the integrated system supports real-time data capture and eliminates the need for duplicate data entry, with features such as cloud-based access, voice recognition, and centralized reporting.

“CIVIE has helped modernize our imaging centers by providing technology options we didn’t have before, particularly a patient portal,” said Kelsey Thomas, practice manager and imaging center director of Heartland Radiology. “Our radiologists love CIVIE’s RadFlow PACS and CIVR voice recognition. Together, they’ve streamlined workflows, significantly boosted productivity, and introduced valuable features — like tracking — that we didn’t have before partnering with CIVIE.”

The vendor says its products were developed as a single platform, allowing for built-in interoperability across modules. “RadFlow in particular is designed to automate routine tasks and reduce administrative burdens, allowing physicians to dedicate more time to patient care,” said CIVIE CEO Dhruv Chopra.

Heartland’s deployment includes CIVIE’s PACS, RIS, billing tools, and voice recognition software. The transition is part of a broader effort by the group to centralize and scale operations across a multistate footprint.
