US Radiology Specialists has rebranded as Lumexa Imaging, marking a shift in how the Raleigh, North Carolina-based company positions itself in the outpatient imaging market.
The new name reflects the organization’s focus on expanding access to freestanding imaging centers and accelerating growth through joint ventures and new site development.
With more than 180 outpatient centers in 13 states, including over 85 operating through joint ventures, Lumexa Imaging is among the largest outpatient imaging providers in the U.S. The company reported opening six new centers in 2025 and ten since October 2024, as part of a continued push into markets where hospital-based imaging is being supplemented by lower-cost, independent alternatives.

“Rebranding as Lumexa Imaging represents an exciting new chapter in our journey as a leader in outpatient radiology care across the country,” said Caitlin Zulla, chief executive officer. “With over 180 outpatient locations — and many more on the way — we're building on a strong foundation to accelerate growth, reach more communities, and continue leading the industry in clinical excellence, cost-effective care, and exceptional patient experiences.”
Lumexa’s network includes facilities offering a full range of modalities, such as MR, CT, PET, and mammography. Most sites operate with extended hours and are staffed by subspecialized radiologists.
Senior vice president of marketing Melissa Weston said the name Lumexa is intended to reflect the company’s commitment to clarity and innovation. “This brand represents more than a name change; it tells the story of who we are and what we stand for,” Weston said.
The rebrand accompanies an ongoing de novo expansion strategy, which the company says will continue in geographies that support outpatient growth.
Lumexa employs over 5,000 people and performs more than 4 million imaging studies annually.
