Datascope Corporation, manufacturer of interventional and critical care cardiovascular devices, recently sold its Patient Monitoring Division to China-based Mindray Medical International, Ltd. (Mindray), for approximately $209 million in cash.

Mindray, founded in 1991, develops, manufactures and markets medical devices internationally. In China, the company has sold to more than 35,000 hospitals, clinics and healthcare facilities.

"We are pleased to complete this acquisition, which represents a significant milestone on our path to becoming a leading global medical device company," said Xu Hang, Mindray's chairman and co-chief executive officer. "This transaction ensures sustainable high growth for our international business and gives us immediate access to an established network of hospital customers in the U.S., the world's single largest healthcare market." Hang also said he is optimistic about the company's economic positioning.

Datascope Corp. announced Sept 16, 2008 that it has entered into a definitive agreement providing for acquisition by Getinge AB, a global medical technology company with existing operations in the cardiac and vascular surgery markets, for all of the outstanding shares of Datascope common stock.
