Her Majesty Queen Maxima and Philips CEO Roy Jakobs are shown the BlueSeal MR system
After an official inauguration by Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, Royal Philips opened its new global headquarters in Amsterdam.

The Amsterdam-based company designed the headquarters to support a collaborative and purpose-driven work environment, reflecting its emphasis on transparency and patient safety. The building is a renovation of a 1950s structure, incorporating energy-efficient systems and circular materials to align with sustainability goals.

Philips CEO Roy Jakobs said the facility underscores the company’s ongoing mission to improve healthcare access and outcomes through technology.

“Healthcare systems everywhere face growing pressure, from rising demand to workforce shortages,” Jakobs said during the event. “Our role is to help clinicians, providers, and partners deliver high-quality, more sustainable care through technology that truly makes a difference.”

The company used the opening to highlight several of its recent innovations. Among them was the BlueSeal MR system, which features a sealed helium circuit that significantly reduces helium consumption — from the traditional 1,500 liters to just seven. This design aims to make MR imaging more accessible globally, particularly in underserved regions.

Also showcased was the Azurion image-guided therapy platform, which integrates imaging and navigation technologies to support minimally invasive procedures. The system is in use worldwide and is designed to improve clinical outcomes, including in stroke care.

Jakobs emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving meaningful innovation, citing partnerships with hospitals, universities, and research institutions as key to Philips' development strategy.

The headquarters launch represents both a symbolic and operational milestone for Philips as it looks to scale its impact on global healthcare systems.
