Carna Health has entered a strategic agreement with Siemens Healthineers to expand adoption of its AI-based chronic kidney disease (CKD) screening platform and increase access to point-of-care diagnostics in underserved regions.
The Boston-based digital health company will integrate its software tools with Siemens Healthineers’ global diagnostics infrastructure, aiming to streamline CKD detection, simplify clinical workflows, and connect high-risk populations with timely nephrology care.
The partnership includes efforts to broaden early screening and monitoring through a combination of AI-driven clinical decision support and portable testing tools. Carna’s platform is designed to flag patients with signs of kidney dysfunction and guide referrals across various care settings, including rural clinics and large health systems.

“This strategic agreement marks a turning point in the fight against CKD,” said Dr. Salvatore Viscomi, co-founder and CEO of Carna Health. “By combining Carna’s AI-enabled platform with global diagnostics expertise from Siemens Healthineers, we’re delivering a unified approach to early identification, continuous monitoring, and proactive management of CKD.”
Initial implementation is underway through a population-based screening program enrolling 30,000 individuals across Bermuda and Limbe, Cameroon. The program leverages Carna’s digital platform and Siemens Healthineers’ epoc Blood Analysis System to deliver eGFR testing at the point of care.
Carna Health plans to screen up to 25 million people globally for CKD by 2030 and is exploring expansion into related cardiometabolic conditions such as diabetes. The company holds exclusive digital distribution rights for CKD-related diagnostics in select markets, including Bermuda, Cameroon and the Philippines, and is now an authorized reseller of Siemens Healthineers solutions.
Bethany Costello, head of global strategy for point-of-care diagnostics at Siemens Healthineers, noted, “Combining forces will build more equitable kidney care pathways for patients globally.”
Founded in 2021, Carna Health focuses on integrating diagnostics and digital tools to improve kidney care management and reduce disease progression.
