GE HealthCare is supplying more than 300 CT scanners to public hospitals across Indonesia.
GE HealthCare is expanding access to advanced diagnostics across Indonesia, supplying more than 300 CT scanners to public hospitals in all 38 provinces.
The move, part of the Strengthening Indonesia’s Health Referral Network (SIHREN) program, aims to reach more than 280 million people, including those in remote regions where access to imaging has historically been limited. Awarded through a fully competitive international tender overseen by the Islamic Development Bank, the deal reflects the program’s scale and governance, GE HealthCare officials say.
SIHREN is Indonesia’s largest healthcare infrastructure investment and ranks among the world’s most significant multilateral health projects. The program is intended to modernize the national referral system, improve care for non-communicable diseases, support maternal health, and strengthen pandemic preparedness.

GE HealthCare International president and CEO Elie Chaillot said the company is supporting the Indonesian Ministry of Health’s long-term objectives. “Our investments in local manufacturing, capacity building, and training aim to strengthen healthcare delivery and support local economic activity,” Chaillot said. “This initiative also helps extend advanced diagnostic technologies to rural and remote communities, promoting more equitable access to care.”
To support the rollout, GE HealthCare recently opened a production facility in Bogor in partnership with PT Kalbe Farma’s subsidiary, Forsta. The facility will enhance supply chains, facilitate technology transfer, and develop local technical expertise. GE HealthCare has maintained a seven-decade presence in Indonesia, including a 2025 contract to supply 10 high-resolution 1.5T MR systems to public hospitals nationwide.
Training is another component of SIHREN. In 2024, GE HealthCare opened the Regional Innovation & Training Experience Hub in Jakarta, providing hands-on instruction for MR and CT systems. Partnering with local institutions, the hub is intended to ensure clinicians can operate advanced imaging equipment effectively, translating infrastructure investment into measurable gains in diagnostic care.
