Avatar Medical and Barco have introduced Eonis Vision, a new imaging solution that integrates Avatar’s 3D visualization software with Barco’s glasses-free 3D display.
The system is designed to improve communication between physicians and patients by enabling shared, real-time visualization of CT and MR scans during consultations.
Avatar Medical and Barco say Eonis Vision can generate stereoscopic 3D images without requiring headsets or glasses. The software component converts imaging data into anatomically accurate, interactive 3D avatars, which are displayed using Barco’s new autostereoscopic display technology. The goal is to streamline interpretation and support shared decision-making by giving both physicians and patients a more intuitive understanding of clinical images.

“Eonis Vision turns medical imaging into shared understanding and trust,” said Elodie Litzler, Ph.D., cofounder and chief operations officer at Avatar Medical. “When physicians and patients can see together, they decide together — because in medicine, seeing is healing.”
The system is designed for use directly within clinical workflows, with integration into electronic medical records and picture archiving, and communication systems (PACS). According to the companies, Eonis Vision delivers high-speed rendering without disrupting established routines.
Dr. Myriam Delomenie, an oncologic surgeon at the American Hospital of Paris, noted that patients responded positively to Avatar’s earlier software. “It has truly helped them better understand their diagnosis and feel more engaged in their care,” she said. She added that she is looking forward to evaluating the new version.
The Eonis 3D display, built on Leia Inc.'s Immersity platform, is being marketed as the first glasses-free 3D display specifically for medical imaging. Commercial availability is expected by the end of November, pending FDA clearance of the updated Avatar Medical Vision software.
Eonis Vision will be showcased at RSNA 2025 in Chicago from November 30 to December 4.
