Royal Philips has announced a collaboration with Epic to connect its ambulatory cardiac monitoring services to Aura, Epic’s specialty diagnostics suite, making it the largest cardiac care portfolio provider available on the platform.

The move enables healthcare providers to order and review ECG results directly within Epic, bypassing manual order entry. The streamlined workflow is expected to reduce administrative tasks and help clinicians spend more time on direct patient care.

“With this collaboration, we are advancing cardiac care in a way that simultaneously improves the clinician and patient experience,” said Stefano Folli, business leader for ambulatory monitoring and diagnostics at Philips.
Philips' cardiac monitoring technology includes remote monitoring and ECG management tools aimed at identifying heart conditions earlier and supporting enterprise-level diagnostics. The integration with Epic may simplify provider onboarding, speed up access to Philips services, and support more consistent data sharing between platforms.

According to Epic, the collaboration also automates routine administrative processes, such as activating monitoring devices, sending staff alerts, and updating medical records.

“When a physician prescribes a cardiac monitor, it allows patients to be evaluated for heart conditions as they go about their daily lives, even before they see a cardiologist,” said Leah Johnson, vice president of cardiology and imaging diagnostics at Epic. “Through this collaboration, we’re streamlining the clinical experience for both patients and physicians, reducing administrative overhead and ensuring that detailed diagnostic reports are readily available in the patient’s comprehensive health record.”

The companies say the integration supports more proactive population health strategies by embedding diagnostic data into care delivery workflows in real time.
