Sun Nuclear, a Mirion Medical company based in Melbourne, Florida, has acquired Oncospace, a software developer focused on AI-driven tools for radiation oncology.

The deal aims to strengthen Sun Nuclear’s digital offerings in radiation therapy quality assurance by integrating predictive analytics and cloud-based planning solutions into its portfolio.

Founded in 2018, Oncospace provides two primary software platforms. The first, Gateway, facilitates treatment planning system migration by converting patient archives from Philips Pinnacle to systems like RaySearch RayStation and Varian Eclipse. Initially developed for prostate cancer treatment, Gateway has since expanded to support head and neck radiotherapy. The second tool uses machine learning to evaluate thousands of clinical treatment plans and generate feasibility metrics to guide dosimetry planning.

Sun Nuclear president and Mirion Medical executive vice president Luis Rivera said, “We are excited to welcome Oncospace into the Sun Nuclear family. By incorporating the Oncospace solutions dependent on AI and machine-learning capabilities, Sun Nuclear is affirming our commitment to drive innovation in radiation therapy. We look forward to the positive impact this will have on our software roadmap.”

Oncospace’s products are expected to become part of the broader Sun Nuclear brand, contributing to its strategy of digitizing quality assurance tools across radiation oncology. The acquisition also supports Sun Nuclear’s focus on improving care precision and treatment planning efficiency.

The newly acquired software will be showcased at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) Congress, taking place May 2–6 in Vienna.

Sun Nuclear reports that more than 6,000 cancer centers globally use its technology for independent quality management in radiation therapy and diagnostic imaging.
