Probo Medical has acquired REMETRONIX, which installs and de-installs medical equipment throughout North America.
In addition to installations and de-installations, the new addition adds transportation, rigging, maintenance, storage and refurbishment services to Probo Medical, which specializes in parts and repairs for imaging equipment.
REMETRONIX services CT, MR, PET/CT, X-ray and proton therapy equipment and has multiple offices in the U.S. and Canada and one in the U.K. “With many of these services already available under Probo Medical in the U.K. and Europe, we look forward to working with an industry-leading company to establish our presence in North America,” said Michael Asmer, CEO of Probo Medical, in a statement.

Probo Medical has completed several recent acquisitions. Last year, it acquired Tenvision
, a service provider specializing in ultrasound equipment. The deal provided it with Tenvision’s expertise in sales, service, maintenance, repair and training around the imaging modality. In exchange, Tenvision’s customers received access to the world’s largest inventory of new and used diagnostic imaging equipment, as well as ultrasound rental and probe repair services.
Prior to this, the company acquired SonoDepot
, a Florida based third-party service, maintenance, and repair organization that also specializes in ultrasound maintenance, service, sales and equipment leasing.
Around the same time last year, Probo Medical acquired a U.K. based company, Mount International United Services
, which offers third-party services, repairs and maintenance for medical imaging equipment across Great Britain, including ultrasound, CT, MR and X-ray. MISU services over 250 NHS Trusts and Hospitals; has a 99.98% average uptime rate; and buys, sells and rents a broad range of medical imaging equipment.
“Our partnership with Probo Medical will provide REMETRONIX with the resources necessary to develop increasingly elevated solutions for our customers,” said REMETRONIX President and CEO Russell Knowles.
Probo Medical is backed by private equity investment firm Varsity Healthcare Partners.
No financial details about the acquisition were disclosed.
