ScImage, Cardiac Imaging forge partnership

par Thomas Dworetzky , Contributing Reporter
ScImage has announced a partnership with Cardiac Imaging at the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology’s 23rd Annual Scientific Session in San Francisco. The deal will let the firms use cloud-based architecture to provide “anywhere, real-time” access for remote reading and reporting of cardiology images.

Cardiac Imaging “has brought together advanced nuclear medicine technology with convenient care through our turnkey mobile and in-house cardiac PET solutions,” its president, Rick Nassenstein, said in a statement, noting that the new partnership “provides our physicians a HIPAA-compliant, encrypted platform for real-time access to viewing images from any desktop computer, tablet, laptop, or cell phone.”

RamSoft PowerServer™ RIS/PACS - Enabling Efficient Diagnostic Imaging

RamSoft's PowerServer™ RIS/PACS is an intuitive, single database application that enables healthcare practices to operate diagnostic imaging more efficiently than ever before. Why is this important? Click to find out.

The deal will bring Cardiac Imaging's solutions together with PICOM365 by ScImage, a cloud-based PACS that permits customizable image presentation and reporting statements. This lets clinicians better communicate during testing and procedures, according to the company.

ScImage’s platform supports the unique requirements of this workflow, pulling together ECG stress data and cardiac PET scanning, according to the company's founder and CEO Sai Raya. “With a core focus on high-level security standards,” he explained, “ScImage data exchange protocols deliver fast, secure and customized workflows to support this cutting-edge partnership.”

Founded in 1993, ScImage is a private company focusing on healthcare sector enterprise imaging solutions. It's single-database PICOM365 enterprise platform offers “end-to-end imaging workflow” for a number of specialities including cardiology, radiology, women’s health, orthopedics, and ophthalmology.

The system is scalable from a sole-practitioner practice to multiple hospital configurations – and can be set up to run on local machines, in the cloud, or a hybrid of both.

In January, ScImage celebrated its 25th anniversary. During the late 1990s, the company pioneered the concept of a patient-centric approach to clinical imaging to eliminate shortcomings of siloed departmental solutions. ScImage introduced PICOM in 2001 with the first ever cloud-based PACS offering.

"Our steady and organic growth from a 2-person startup is a direct outcome of our commitment to providing the highest quality imaging products and excellent service to our customers and end users," noted Madvi Raya, co-owner and CFO.

In December, 2017, ScImage introduced PicomPassport, a tool that leverages the power of PICOM365’s Azure-based Cloud technology to simplify the importing of external patient exams to PACS.

“Frictionless importing of external patient exams into departmental PACS remains a sticky process for most health care organizations, despite being a vital functionality that is required to avoid repeat procedures, ensure dose minimization and improve patient care,” Sai Raya said in a statement at the time. “We are proud to present an efficient and cost-effective solution that addresses these issues.”

The technology enables external entities, such as facilities, physicians or patients, to initiate an exam upload request. Once upload authorization is obtained electronically, the user can then drag and drop exam data for immediate availability on
