As has been the trend over the past year, health care added more jobs to the U.S. employment situation, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which was released Friday.
Health care added 19,000 jobs in April mostly in ambulatory health care services at 14,000. Ambulatory care includes doctors' offices and outpatient care centers.
Over the prior 12 months, job growth in health care averaged 24,000 jobs per month, according to the report.

In April, employment also continued its upward trend in social assistance, professional and business services, food services and drinking places, and retail trade.
In total, the number of unemployed persons in the U.S. was little changed last month. The unemployment rate has hovered around 7.9 percent since September 2012.
