British electronics company e2v said last week it inked a 5-year deal with Accuray Inc. worth at least 20 million pounds ($32 million) to supply parts that help power radiation therapy equipment.

The Chelmsford, UK-based company said the contract covers the exclusive supply of magnetrons for 5 years and compact modulators for 3 years. These gadgets will be used in the manufacture of TomoTherapy Hi-Art Systems, and create the microwaves that in turn produce the X-rays used in imaging and blasting tumors.

According to a corporate brochure, e2v has a long history supplying these parts to TomoTherapy, a company that was acquired by Accuray last year.
