MedPAC advises Congress
on Medicare issues
The Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) has launched an equipment capacity study in six markets across the country to determine the average usage levels for MR and CT equipment, according to the American College of Radiology (ACR).
The survey will analyze Medicare claims data in Boston, Miami, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Greenville, S.C., and in Orange County, Calif.
The ACR has had ongoing involvement with the practice expense process and will be independently looking into this issue. The College also will provide comments to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on equipment utilization and its use in the practice expense methodology.
