Picker PQ CT Problem
September 17, 2007 04:29
Hi,
We have a Picker PQ CT spiral CT machine that produced a “1017 Bad Starter/No Power-DC rails less than 400VDC”.When we changed the “High Speed Starter” machine positioned “ready”, but during “warm up”(6th and 7th shooting) produced “Error 1011 and 1012”(Error Code 1011:ANA:Cathode Arc-Bad Tube/Multi/Cables. Error Code 1011: Anode Arc-Bad Tube/Multi/Cables.1012:Anode over V – Bad Multi/Cntrl.1012:Cathode over V – Bad Multi/Cntrl.1012:Tube arc…as well as “Error 1016:BAD STARTER->50amps in rails” error.
When we preheated the tube, we had several images, but then 20 amps fuses in the High Speed Starter had blown up, giving the error code 1016.
Please help us to localize this problem and the methods and steps required to solve it.
Waiting for your mail.
Best regards,
Selcuk AKIN

AKIN,
lOOKS LIKE YOU HAVE A FAULTY X RAY TUBE´S ROTOR, MY SUSGESTION IS TO DO A "NO LOAD TEST", TO PROBE IF ITS THE TUBE.

Every time you get an error in the X-ray system, the rotor is braked and stopped. Starting and stopping the rotor so many times is likely what blew up the starter to begin with. You need to probably get a new tube, and yes do the no -load test first. But it sounds as you have a bad tube, and nobody wants to buy one. I recommend the Varian replacement, as they have a full replacement warranty, none of the pro-rated excuse for a poorly made tube like Dunlee.
Plus their tube sells thousands less money.

I think it is not so easy. I never got fuses blown due to a stuck rotor, and this happens a lot. No load test will give positive answers only if your Xray tube fails at minimum current. If you can make an exposure at any voltage @ 30 mA, it is very likely no load test won't help much.

1016 and 1017 codes are HSS related errors, even when caused by a bad tube.
No load test won´t work if you have a faulty HSS.
If you have a oil flow problem you can bypass the flow switch (in HSS) for testing purposes.
Try No Load test at 130KV and 150mA. If it runs, you have a bad xray tube.

Before alll....
just check income voltage. Ac voltaje less 452 volts may be the only cause. If it, use and isolation multitap transformer to adapt it. You must have 480 VAC balanced
