I know it sound strange but I can't open a centrifuge that we just received ! It's a Sorval RT6000B. The opening system is the same as our Beckman TJ-6 but even with no power, I can't open it !!! Is there a secret key that I need to push...
I'm not an expert, however, there is a small hole if I can remember correctly on the right side of the top. If you insert a devise such as a thin nail and engage the tip into the lock mechanism it will manually release the top. At least the J6-B is that way.

Try pushing down the cover and push open switch at same time. Probably the mechanism is blocked by a transport hidden hit
