My customer is thinking to purchase preowned mobile CT scanner in trailer. I just want to know your opinion about Picker mobile systems. Are they reliable? Honestly, we donot want to use it as mobile. The customer just does not want to bulit new facility and he thinks it would be cheaper to have mobile CT close to the main hospital building. I am thinking about severe weather conditions during Russian winter(-22F) and summer (90F). Do mobile systems work in such a conditions in the US? How many patients they can scan per day w/o shore power?
Thank you,

Eugene the Picker CT's a very reliable and would be a good choice. However, you have a much different item that should concern you. All of the trailers made in North America have 60Hz environmental systems and are wired for 480VAC input.
The A/C's will not last 6 months when you change over and the lift, lights etc will require a transformer to go from your domestic 380 to 480VAC.
So, think about what you really want to do before you move into a difficult situation near term.
Eugene, I have had 10 years service experience of the Picker Mobile MRI System in former Soviet Republic of Armenia. I can not say anything regarding your Picker PQ5000 (I think Ralph already told you about system). He is right about difference of AC system in US and Russia. I think the only transformer would be not enough, since transformer doesn't solve the problem with 60Hz. In your mobile case you have to run continiously the HVAC system (heating-ventilating air conditioning); which uses three phase powerfull (about 30kWatt)freon compressor that use 60Hz. So if you use only 380V to 480V AC transformer you will loose the productivity of compressors (due to decrease of frequency from 60Hz to 50Hz) and consequently to not proper enviromental condition in your mobile.
The only solution to solve this problem is to order the additional motor-generator system; which would cost extra money fot your customer.
The other problem is the servicing the HVAC system. It requests additional service and it will be difficult to conduct in Russia due to temeperature fluctuation. The same situation is in Armenia - we have hot summer (about +40C) and cold winter (about -25C). I was twice forced to replace two compressors - one in summer and one in winter.
The other seriouos issue is how to transportate this mobile to your customer site. You need to freight the boat for oversea shipment from US coast to Russian port then hire a powerfull truck to move the trailer from port to your customer's site. And have to be carefull to search a good road for moving the trailer in order to avoid the further problem during the installation.
So you need to take in consideration all this issues before to make final decission.
