GE Logiq 400 errors - need help

June 23, 2014 04:26

Dear colleagues,

Logiq 400 machine with 5.01 Gy software from time to time gives errors while booting. After the 4-th progress bar appears and HDD-D35 message appears in lower-left of the screen it hangsup for a while and when gives messages - Board is missing ASPR, Board is missing TRDR, Board is missing HBFR(1), Board is missing HBFR(2), Board is missing DCON. Finally it boots-up but no image on the screen. The LEDs on first 3 boards from the right aren't lit - as if no power to those boards is supplied. Removed all boards and connectors in cage, cleaned everything properly - no result. But on the other day it boots up and passes all the test pretty fine. How to fix that?

only note I have on this error is several years ago I had this issue and I reloaded software which corrected my issue the reason the boards are listed as missing is due to the software not loading correctly

Thank You very much for the hint. The hdd is rather old and probably have some glitches. Although it is strange - I haven't met corrupted software that sometimes is loading and sometimes not.

Sergey, I would take the errors as a warning to replace the HDD. If you have the software on MO Disk you can format and reload any old style 50pin SCSI HDD. The software only needs 512Mb of drive space. If you talk to GE Parts ID they can supply the MO disk number if you don't already have a copy. You can wait for a failure but then the system will be down for awhile. The drives are getting old. My suspicion would be it is on the way out. All the best, Ron.

Thank You much, Ron for paying attention to my case. Changing HDD is my primary task at the moment. Fortunately the system is not as old as one may think. It has 20GB IDE hdd inside connected via IDE-SCSI adapter. 128MB MOD is also supplied with the system but I'm not sure what is inside: just some upgrade or complete software image.Any ideas besides software are also accepted...

Sergey, the MOD has all you need to format and reload software. Only new drives need to be formatted usually. Sometimes it does help with a drive that is not performing properly. I believe the reload instructions are in the service manual. Usually the drive is a SCSI with a SCSI to IDE adapter. If you have IDE to SCSI to IDE, which is what I think you are saying, you can remove the adapters and run straight IDE. I have not tried an IDE drive but I have had systems that have only one drive and no adapter. I assumed they were IDE drives but I did not check. The drive format is unique to GE by the way. It is a software system, seldom used elsewhere called Venus. It is similar to Linux but different. All the best, Ron.
