Pertexa Inc. has launched a versatile and robust machine called RITA (Robotic Intelligent Telehealth Assistant) which is a cross between a robot and a media wall that uses high-speed components, high-definition monitors and wireless technology to improve productivity of doctors in both hospital and clinic settings. RITA will allow physicians more flexibility in assisting and treating patients remotely. RITA can also make a huge difference in treating and diagnosing highly communicable diseases like Ebola, and in high-risk situations like bioterrorism.
FDA approves breast tomosynthesis option for mammography platform
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the MAMMOMAT Inspiration with Tomosynthesis Option – the breast tomosynthesis add-on option for Siemens Healthcare’s MAMMOMAT Inspiration digital mammography platform. Siemens’ breast tomosynthesis algorithm reconstructs multiple 2D images of the breast into an approximation of a 3D image to enable detection of tumors that are hidden by overlapping breast tissue, enabling more accurate diagnosis than standard 2D digital mammography and reducing the number of false-positive findings. In a recent study involving 22 readers with a broad range of reading experience, Siemens demonstrated that all readers improved their accuracy in detecting and diagnosing cancers when reading digital breast tomosynthesis as an adjunct to full-field digital mammography. In tomosynthesis mode, the X-ray tube of the MAMMOMAT Inspiration digital mammography system rotates in a circular motion around the breast to acquire an image every two degrees while moving through an angular range of 50 degrees. The resulting 25 projections are reconstructed as three-dimensional digital breast tomosynthesis images.

Unfors RaySafe ‘s RaySafe X2 Survey sensor provides survey measurements in the X-ray energy range. It also adds the ability to perform leakage and scatter measurements in diagnostic X-ray applications. Unlike a pressurized ion-chamber, the RaySafe X2 Survey sensor is silicon-based, making it possible to ship without any special considerations or arrangements. The Survey sensor also has two trigger modes: manual and automatic. These modes allow the sensor to capture low dose-rate measurements in an X-ray machine’s primary beam. Another unique feature is its ability to switch energy response between Air Kerma (Gy or R) and Ambient Dose Equivalent (Sv).
Scrubs with advanced technology
Vestagen Technical Textiles, Inc. launched specially designed scrubs for operating room (OR) staff made with its Vestex active barrier textile technology. In addition to being embedded with Vestex’s antimicrobial and fluid repellent properties, the OR scrub line is made with tightly woven, 100 percent polyester to limit lint shedding and wicking Warp- Dry technology to ensure breathability and wearer comfort.
26” 3D Monitor
FSN Medical Technologies recently introduced a new monitor to the market. The FS-P2607D displays 3-D video in a variety of formats. The input/output connections on this monitor include dual DVI, dual 3G-SDI, and on-board DC out power for smaller component needs. This unit features LED backlight technology and engineered polymer housing. Lightweight 3-D glasses included.
