OEC 9800 plus does not boot

December 05, 2014 10:14

Hello

I have a problem with an OEC 9800 plus. The power on secuence is interrupted in the fith arrow.
I´ve connected a debug monitor to check the boot up secuence. The four nodes seems to be ok but it shows the following message:

Arcnet network inicialization completed
No frameSync detected
FrameSync Error detected.

Could it be the FFB Board? I don´t have the extender card to check the Sync signal.

Regards

does the workstation boots up correctly without the C-Arm? if so what does the system interface board display on the led then connect the C-Arm and reboot let me know what is displayed now on the system interface.

Without the C arm the workstation does not boot up completely. There is no image on the monitor. I don´t remember exactly the number displayed on the board I think it shows 00

okay then I would suspect a broken wire in the interconnect harness if they check out okay, verify the +5VDC on the display controller board between TP3 and 5 (board on the doghouse on top of vertical lift)make sure it measures between +4.98 to +5.10

I boot up the WS alone and sometimes the monitors remains in black and the sytem interface shows AA. The external monitor "frame Sync Error detected"
Sometimes the aplicattion seems to boot up completely. But the image is not clear, to much noise...
From this point, we could say that the problem is inside the WS...
The 5 Volts in the display adapter are ok.
Any clue to follow?
Thanks a lot for the help given

the frame sync error is okay when the C-Arm is not connected due to the loop being open. please check the capacitors around the CPU IC on the SBC board see if they are swollen. if they are good, have you reloaded software prior to reloading checked the CMOS settings?

Check the CMOS battery on the SBC. If your system interface displays anything other than 00 or AA it is most likely the battery has become delpleted. If you connect an external monitor and keyboard to the system it would also display some info that would help

5 arrows is an Arcnet communication problem. Have you checked the trunk cable? It is possible that you have a broken wire in your A. C-arm to workstation cable. B. generator to c-arm cable. With no framesync detected, I would start with the BNC connectors in the generator, and make sure they have continuity from one end to the other (up to the camera)

I have had quite a few random wires break in that cable from the gen to the c-arm. For me, normally it was the temp sensor wire, but there is a reason they include extra wires in the cable, including the bnc for video :)

Also, you don't "need" an extender board per say to test for a signal. Just power down the system, then pull the card, attach your leads to the test points, Carefully re-insert the board, power on and check!

Though, if you need to make adjustments, like for the mA-Null, I highly recommend an extender card.

Good luck!

There could be a communication problem between the WS and the C Arm, check the interconnect cable, ohm it from side to side. Also check all pins inside of the male connector, sometimes those pins are pushed in and don't make contact.
