Despite the recession, enrollment remains strong for Jefferson College of Health Sciences (JCHS), Roanoke, VA.

That's good news for the institution that is also celebrating the career of Dr. Carol M. Seavor, President, attributed as responsible for the record growth. She began her tenure at JCHS in October 2002.

Seavor considers her accomplishment a privilege. She says. "Having such an opportunity has been the perfect culmination to my career in nursing and healthcare. I have nothing but appreciation and admiration for the faculty, staff and students of Jefferson College and with deep gratitude to Carilion Clinic for supporting me in this endeavor, as well as for its commitment to furthering the education of our students, the healthcare professionals of tomorrow."

In collaboration with John W. Dysart, President, The Dysart Group, Inc, Charlotte, NC, Seaver developed and implemented a new recruitment model and revised financial aid strategies, both modifications culminating in rapid and unprecedented rise in enrollment. She also added four baccalaureate programs and three graduate programs. Dysart runs a higher education consulting firm.

Additions such as 15:1 student-to-faculty ratio and meal plans further position the college. For the past six years, JCHS has shown consistent growth. Now it is moving ahead aggressively in response to health care needs within the community.

JCHS offers the Master of Science in Nursing, Physician Assistant and Occupational Therapy and 12 baccalaureate and associate healthcare programs. Approximately 1000 undergraduate and nearly 100 graduate students are enrolled. Visit www.jchs.edu for more information.
