Jason Newmark

AHRA appoints executive director
September 01, 2023
Jason Newmark
I don’t know about you but I am still feeling the excitement from our annual meeting. I have learned that when work starts getting hard or it is a really exhausting day, I think about the positive energy from networking with colleagues and the lessons I learned from the classes I attended in Indy. These tactics keep me engaged and reduce the burnout feeling. In my last column, I challenged us to reach out to a colleague to have lunch or just meet online to keep connected. We don’t have to wait until the AHRA “family reunion” to talk; let’s make the time throughout the year.

Speaking of excitement, and after a nationwide search, it is my great pleasure to announce that Jason Newmark has accepted the position as our new Executive Director. I am sure many of you may know Jason; he’s been part of the AHRA family for many years. He is a Past President and has a strong history of volunteering in our association, combined with a wealth of experience and knowledge of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. During the search, we had the opportunity to interview many candidates, and each would have brought something unique to our association. Jason became the clear choice because of his ability to connect and lead, two traits that are crucial for this role. Jason’s visionary leadership style and strategic thinking align perfectly with the goals outlined in our strategic plan. Jason’s passion for the AHRA, coupled with a dedication to fostering collaboration and innovation, makes him the ideal candidate to lead us into this exciting new chapter in the history of AHRA. Jason is an accomplished leader with an impressive track record in healthcare administration and consulting. Under Jason’s guidance, we can look forward to a period of transformation and growth. Jason’s experience in navigating complex healthcare landscapes, fostering relationships, and driving organizational excellence will undoubtedly propel AHRA to new heights. Jason will officially start in October.

I would like to thank the Search Committee and the Board of Directors for their unwavering commitment through this process.

In other exciting news, many of our committees continue to make great progress on moving our strategic goals forward. For example, one of our strategic goals is to collaborate with other organizations. As a part of this, the Regulatory Affairs Committee has a task force working with other associations and accrediting organizations on Remote technologist MRI scanning. The task force has been charged with exploring the use of remote technologists and defining what/if the industry should do as a collective to address, inform and guide potential next steps. This task force includes representatives from ACR, IAC, TJC, RBMA, MITA, ASRT, and Radsite. That is true collaboration, working together to do what is best for our overall industry! Huge kudos to the Task Force and we can’t wait to see what this group can complete!

I would like to also take this time to thank Nancy Green, our interim CEO, for her leadership the past eight months. She helped us navigate through many challenges and kept us focused on our strategic priorities. As her interim role with us winds down, I know she has left a lasting impression on our association and to me, personally.
