Breast CT system manufacturer Koning has reported the largest pipeline of orders in its two-decade history, a surge in demand for its Koning Vera Breast CT system from healthcare providers around the world that it attributes to recent prominent purchasers and attendance at the 2023 SBI Breast Imaging Symposium.

The orders represent a significant milestone for Koning, which has been dedicated to the development and manufacture of Breast CT systems for two decades. The buyers include a range of healthcare providers, including hospitals, imaging centers, and private practices across the United States and internationally.

"We are thrilled to see such a high demand for our Koning Vera Breast CT," said Lutao Ning, CEO of Koning. "This validates our commitment to innovation and delivering the best possible imaging technology to healthcare providers and patients."

After the company's attendance at the Society of Breast Imaging Symposium in Washington, D.C., this month, Koning will be ramping up production to meet the increased demand for the its breast CT technology.

Koning launched Vera, the third generation of its breast CT system, in 2022. It offers a smaller footprint than previous versions, improved resolution, lower radiation dose and a scan time reduced from 10 seconds to 7 seconds.

Vera can also be outfitted to accommodate all breast imaging procedures, including 3D image-guided needle biopsy and contrast-enhanced imaging without gadolinium-based contrast agents, as an alternative to breast MR, David Georges, president of Koning Corporation’s USA division, told HCB News last year.

“With contrast, it is a very suitable alternative to breast MR, which is obviously much more expensive, much more time consuming, and they use a completely different contrast,” Georges said.
