Cincinnati-based health system TriHealth will install Philips’ cardiology solutions at its TriHealth Heart & Vascular Institute at Bethesda North Hospital and the Harold and Eugenia Thomas Comprehensive Care Center.

The not-for-profit will use Philips equipment to share best practices and develop new treatments and therapies, with the goal of becoming a regional destination heart and vascular program.

The TriHealth Heart & Vascular Institute has nine interventional suites to perform minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures, and is already equipped with the Philips Azurion image-guided therapy solution and Philips cardiovascular ultrasound systems Affiniti and EPIQ.

Adding more Philips equipment will ensure physicians are familiar with the system regardless of which lab they are working in.

“The reimagined spaces and workflow in the new Heart & Vascular Institute will enable us to meet our clinical and operational goals, while the new business model will allow us to adopt the technologies that we need, when we need them,” said Jamie Easterling, president and COO of Bethesda North Hospital, in a statement.

TriHealth also plans to install Philips ultra-mobile handheld ultrasound for telehealth services, as well as patient monitoring solutions, such as advanced clinical decision support tools and smart alarms, for intervening in case of an adverse event.

The health system serves three Ohio counties and Kentucky residents close to the state border. It started consolidating its heart surgery programs to the Bethesda North Campus in 2018, and is expanding its first-floor cardiovascular ICU, which it expects to complete in early 2023. In 2021, it announced that it would build a $30 million ambulatory medical center.
