FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation has entered a five-year, multimillion-dollar contract with the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support to supply endoscopic equipment and training to all hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers operated by the U.S. military.
The terms also extend to those under the Veterans’ Health Administration, National Institutes of Health and Indian Health Service among other institutions.
The company will distribute its entire portfolio of endoscopic devices, including its 700 Series standard, slim, treatment and zoom colonoscopies to help gastroenterologists adapt their technology to the patient’s anatomy and clinical needs. It also will offer its ELUXEO Endoscopic Imaging solutions, which come equipped with ultra-HD white light endoscopy, blue light imaging and linked color imaging to improve detection and visualization during exams.
"Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States, the third most common diagnosed cancer among indigenous Americans, and the fourth most common diagnosed cancer among veterans. With our endoscopy portfolio, we hope to transform the speed and accuracy with which CRC is identified, addressed and managed at all federally managed healthcare sites,” said Taisuke Fujita, vice president of endoscopy at FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation, in a statement.
FUJIFILM has a number of contracts in place with the armed forces, including a recent four-year deal to
provide its Persona C mobile fluoroscopy system to the U.S. Army. The scanner is lightweight and mobile and will allow for fast, precise positioning and advanced imaging to assist in different diagnostic imaging exams and minimally invasive surgical procedures.
It also accepted a 10-year-standardization award in the fall to
install its digital X-ray systems on board the U.S. Naval Fleet. It will outfit 34 U.S. naval vessels, both new and active, with its clinical DR X-ray room systems, which include next-generation detector technology and a high-quality compact floor-mounted room, along with advanced features.
Additionally, it has a 10-year DOD Digital Imaging Network-PACS IV contract and a 10-year Joint DLA/VA Radiology and Imaging Systems contract.
"This contract speaks to the confidence and level of trust that federal agencies have put in Fujifilm's high-quality imaging technology," said Lou Cavallaro, national director of government business for FUJIFILM Healthcare Americas Corporation, in regard to the endoscopy deal.
