Wanting to meet growing demands for point-of-care ultrasound imaging and teleradiology in the COVID-19 era, Konica Minolta introduced the SONIMAGE HS2 Compact Ultrasound System and the Exa Gateway remote reading platform at the virtual RSNA annual meeting.
The SONIMAGE HS2 Compact Ultrasound System is designed to provide improved image quality with Konica Minolta’s Dual Sonic technology, which utilizes an algorithm that transmits two waveforms, depending on the focal length, to increase clarity and provide a high enough signal for deep tissue imaging.
"As we have seen during this pandemic, point-of-care ultrasound has been instrumental in the diagnosis and management of COVID-19 patients," Joan Toth, senior product marketing manager for Konica Minolta Healthcare, told HCB News. "Our next generation system, the SONIMAGE HS2, delivers excellent image quality and ease of use to address today's and tomorrow's clinical needs."
Improved Tissue Harmonics technology suppresses acoustic noise and increases both frequency and sensitivity for both deep tissue and superficial imaging.
The product provides Simple Needle Visualization, or SNV, software for needle guidance, as well as higher resolution and faster frame rates that enable more clear visualization of slow blood flow. This ensures more accurate needle placement and enables high-resolution blood flow imaging, said Toth.
The SONIMAGE HS2 Compact Ultrasound System also comes with improved operability, which offers hands-free voice control to improve technologist workflow.
In addition, the company introduced Exa Gateway, a cost-effective, secure, remote reading platform that uses a facility’s existing PACS, as a way to meet the growing need for teleradiology services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Teleradiologists can use their current PACS worklist and viewer and the Exa Gateway can be configured for both existing Exa customers and non-Exa users, according to the company.
