Microtechnology for the fight against COVID-19
Innovations that can help overcome the pandemic quickly were the focus at virtual.COMPAMED (215 exhibitors) for the supplier market for medical manufacturing. Many companies from the microtechnology sectors are active here and are organized in the IVAM Association for Microtechnology. The association managed the English HIGH-TECH FORUM in the Conference Area. In this context, microfluidics is a core technology to advance reliable and inexpensive rapid tests and point-of-care diagnostics. Exhibitors at virtual.COMPAMED offered a broad spectrum of services for this - from contract processing and contract production for disposable microfluidic systems to development and manufacturing of fully automated sample preparation and molecular diagnostic systems.

Dr. Thomas Dietrich, Managing Director of IVAM, is already looking ahead to the coming year: “I think it makes sense to focus more on virtual meetings during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, meeting in person at trade fairs and conferences remains essential for creating long-term business relationships that are built on trust, and this is simply irreplaceable. This is why we are already looking forward to seeing our customers again in person at COMPAMED 2021 in Düsseldorf.”

Most of the speeches at virtual.MEDICA and virtual.COMPAMED, along with the accompanying virtual congresses and conferences (e.g. the 43rd German Hospital Conference) will remain available to registered users online until the end of May 2021. The exhibitors’ online showrooms will also be accessible until then. https://virtual.medica-tradefair.com/ and https://virtual.compamed-tradefair.com

The next staging of MEDICA and COMPAMED will be held from 15 - 18 November 2021 as hybrid events. The hybrid concept consists of combining a live event for trade visitors at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany and digital offers.
