June 26, 2020
TALLAHASSEE – HIE Networks, a leading provider of health information exchange services, today announced that it has hired James “Sandy” Phillips as Chief Information Officer. In his new role, Phillips will be responsible for leading HIE Networks technology solutions and working closely with the leadership team to help expand the company’s product offerings. In addition, Phillips will lead the acquisition, operation, and maintenance of HIE Networks’ IT assets, processes, and computer systems, assessing and improving current processes.

Phillips is an accomplished health information exchange leader and strategist with over 20 years experience in delivering enterprise systems design, implementation, and integration. Relying on his two-plus decades of data-driven problem-solving, Phillips will incorporate key Health IT priorities into the offerings and operations of HIE Networks, focusing on continuous improvement to the company’s cloud-based health care communication system.

“A Health IT industry veteran, Sandy brings an in-depth knowledge of the current and up-and-coming trends in the health information technology field,” said company CEO Zach Finn. “His experience in advanced health information technology – working with both clinical and claims data, transferring that data into actionable information and knowledge, providing predictive analytics and decision support, and supporting data warehousing technologies – will help us evolve our product roadmap to the next level.”

Immediately prior to joining HIE Networks, Phillips served as Vice President of Master Data Management for Integra Connect, LLC. Based out of West Palm Beach, Florida, Integra Connect specializes in addressing the unique requirements of value-based oncology and urology care, as well as EMS revenue cycle management. Phillips was also the founder and president of Analytic Intuition, Inc., a Health IT consultancy focused on the use of advanced IT tools in various health care settings.

“I’m thrilled to have Sandy join our leadership team,” said HIE Networks Founder and Chairman Allen Byington. “He brings a unique set of industry knowledge, technical experience, and analytical acumen that will help advance HIE Networks’ mission and vision.”

Phillips earned a bachelor of science degree in physical chemistry from the University of Georgia. He also served in the United States Navy, where he completed U.S. Naval Nuclear Power Training, earning a master’s degree-equivalent in Nuclear Engineering.
