December 2018 - The European Congress of Radiology (ECR) 2019 will play host to not only radiologists, but also radiographers from across the world. The congress, which is the official annual scientific meeting in medical imaging for radiographers, recognised by both the European Federation of Radiographer Societies (EFRS) and the European Society of Radiology (ESR), will see the largest and most comprehensive radiography programme to date, with a full line-up including several new events dedicated purely to radiographers.

After its resounding popularity last year, radiographers are encouraged to attend the Cube 2.0 - an interactive educational hub dedicated to the captivating world of interventional radiology (IR). Featuring a multi-disciplinary programme and an area dedicated to radiography in IR, the Cube 2.0 is a must visit for those seeking an engaging introduction to this dynamic subspecialty. Due to popular demand, the Cube 2.0 will be double the size of its predecessor and located in a new venue, the DC Tower 1, just a few steps from its previous location. The Radiographers' Lounge in the main congress centre will also be expanded this year, allowing space for 20 society booths, a "Voice of EPOS" stage and even more networking opportunities.

Another new programme feature for 2019 will be Women in Focus, a series of non-scientific sessions dedicated to professional and gender issues. Sessions will explore and celebrate the role of women in healthcare and will feature an array of highly accomplished individuals, including Vice-President of the EFRS, Charlotte Beardmore and Chief Radiographer of the Nigerian National Orthopaedic Hospital and President of the Association of Radiographers in Nigeria, Elizabeth Balogun.

Alongside these new features, radiographers can expect a packed programme including many Special Focus, Coffee and Talk and Professional Challenges sessions, an EFRS workshop and Refresher Courses, as well as exclusive EFRS meets Denmark and International Society of Radiographers & Radiological Technologists (ISRRT) meets Africa sessions. The congress will also be hosting the ESR/EFRS Joint Radiographer Abstract Awards and will feature 25 radiographer Voice of EPOS sessions on a dedicated stage, with a higher number of presenters than ever before. Abstract submission figures also indicate that ECR is becoming an increasingly popular meeting for not only European but also non-European countries. The expanding programme comes after ECR 2018 saw a significant rise in the number of attending radiographers. A record of 2,177 radiographers from 75 countries attended ECR 2018, which marks a 9% increase compared to ECR 2017.
