From the July 2017 issue of HealthCare Business News magazine

HCB News: Can you tell us about your business background?
JF: I’ve spent many years in business development on the commercial side. I began my career with Faxitron as a business development consultant to help evaluate the market potential for PathVision technology and to help the company understand the needs and trends in anatomic pathology. I later joined the company full-time as VP of pathology to help grow and develop our PathVision business and to help position Faxitron as a leading solution provider to pathology labs.

HCB News: How is pathology evolving and how do you think it will be different in 10 years?
JF: Since joining Faxitron I’ve seen some major changes in pathology. I’ve noticed tremendous movement toward embedding technology such as PathVision, and there has also been a major trend toward digitizing pathology, which will force a lot of change in an area that has typically received less investment. The amount of work done through a microscope should reduce as technology helps to streamline the workflow, enabling pathology labs to become more efficient and much more time responsive. Ultimately, these developments should lead to faster, more accurate diagnoses for patients, and help to improve the overall standard of patient care.
