The Florida International Medical Exposition (FIME), an international medical device trade fair and congress focused on the Americas, has been acquired by London-based Informa and its Global Exhibitions Division.

FIME will complement Informa's existing collection of 22 exhibitions and over 100 conferences across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asian Pacific life science markets. The acquisition is also in keeping with Informa's long-term strategic vision of expanding its life sciences division into the U.S. market.

The significantly larger pool of resources at Informa's disposal are expected to help FIME continue to grow and expand its multi-specialty conference program among professionals and businesses throughout the Americas.

"The acquisition of FIME will generate substantial value for our customers and partners by driving further product innovation and deeper engagement in these specific markets," said Charlie McCurdy, CEO of Informa's Global Exhibitions Division, adding that the show is likely to become a key component of his business.

Informa has recently announced the acquisitions of the U.S.-based Virgo Group, as well as Orlando MegaCon and Hanley Wood Exhibitions.

For a quarter century, FIME has served communities of North and South America with a primary focus on medical technology, medical products and supplies, medical services, and medical equipment. Its annual show takes place in Miami Beach, Florida. The next show is scheduled for August 2-4, 2016.
