GE Healthcare Announces New Strategic Business Segments For Diagnostic Ultrasound

WAUKESHA, WISC., GE Healthcare has announced two new strategic business segments for the company's Diagnostic Ultrasound business, one of the fastest growing businesses within the company. According to company leaders, the new Women's Health & Specialty and Radiology & Vascular business segments will deepen GE Healthcare's technology connection to its customers and cater to the evolving technology specialization trend in healthcare.

"GE Healthcare is positioned for tremendous growth in the years ahead," said Terri Bresenham, vice president and general manager of GE Healthcare's diagnostic ultrasound and information technologies business. "The new Women's Health & Specialty and Radiology & Vascular business segments will further strengthen our focus on serving our luminary customers, and enhance our commitment to support the kinds of clinical research and innovation that have made GE the industry leader in ultrasound."

Karl-Heinz Lumpi has been promoted to the newly created position of General Manager for the Women's Health & Specialty business segment and Brian McEathron for the Radiology & Vascular segment. In their new roles, Lumpi and McEathron will both report to Bresenham.

"Karl-Heinz and Brian bring a unique blend of proven business skills and a combination of commercial and clinical management experience to their new roles," said Bresenham. "Both will continue to accelerate the growth of our Diagnostic Ultrasound and Information Technologies business, while building on the foundation of quality technologies and customer focus."

Lumpi holds a Masters degree in biomedical engineering from the Technical University of Graz in Austria and has spent his career in the ultrasound field. Lumpi was the project manager for the launch of the world's first 4D ultrasound system. McEathron holds a Masters degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University and is a career veteran of GE with a variety of engineering, product and business development experience.
