Dunlee Glassware Tip of the Month: Troubleshooting Artifacts -- Moiré Patterns

Sponsored Content | March 08, 2012

Moiré artifacts
Orange peel, golf ball, tire tracks....these terms refer to moiré patterns that appear on images. Troubleshooting need not be troublesome with some simple steps to correct malfunctions.

Common culprits that cause these patterns include vibration, improper rotation speed (anode) and loose connections. Here are some simple troubleshooting tips of possible causes. Listen for vibration in the detector. Make sure the detector mounts are properly secured. Also check the cable and connectors in DAS. Perform an output test for the X-ray channels with rotation on and with rotation off to see if it makes a difference. Note: if the reference channel has a high standard deviation, it may be caused by a break in the cable or a poor connection.
