Fujifilm's RIS gets modular EHR certification

by Brendon Nafziger, DOTmed News Associate Editor | March 05, 2012
Fujifilm Medical Systems USA's radiology information system Synapse 6.1 received modular electronic health record certification, the company said Monday.

This means providers can use the program with others to attest to stage 1 meaningful use requirements and qualify for Medicare financial incentives for doing so. Modular certification means it meets some of the 2011-2012 certification criteria, whereas complete EHRs meet all of them.

"Having our Synapse RIS receive modular certification is a tangible step towards receiving complete certification," Jim Morgan, vice president of medical informatics for Fujifilm, said in a statement. "This means that our radiology clients can address their meaningful use requirements that ensure an improved workflow and allow them to more quickly qualify for the incentives set forth by the [Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology]."

Synapse was certified on Feb.28 by Drummond Group, one of six authorized bodies that certify products for the ONC. The product will be available for delivery early this year, Fujifilm said.
