The Institute for Health Technology Transformation brings together doctors, health plan administrators, device manufacturers and public officials to discover how technology can improve health care. For almost seven years, the group, also known as iHT2, has run a series of two-day educational and networking summits across the country, from Beverly Hills to Atlanta. This September, the roadshow arrives in New York City.

Dubbed "Pathways to Value: Health IT Strategy Summit," this year’s summit will focus on achieving meaningful use, improving care by integrating clinical IT systems and developing metrics to get the most out of a health information exchange.

The event, to be held September 20-21 at The Westin New York at Times Square, is expected to attract more than 200 health IT executives and professionals, as well as 20 exhibitors showing the latest health IT products.

“The Institute’s New York City Forum will bring together national thought leaders addressing the most timely and pressing issues centered on health care IT,” said Waco Hoover, CEO of the Institute for Health Technology Transformation, in a statement. “This informative and interactive summit will afford executives an opportunity to forge new relationships, hear from top federal officials, and gain insight to strategies leading organizations are employing to solve challenges facing stakeholders in our health care system.”

Reflecting the public-private partnership aims of the conference, keynote speakers include Mike McCallister, CEO and Chairman with Humana Inc., and Todd Park, chief technology officer with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

New for 2011

For this year’s summit, iHT2 said it has introduced a handful of new features, such as:

Delegate matchmaking: after filling out a survey, attendees are connected with peers facing similar challenges at similar-sized institutions.

More interactivity: The organizers said they’ve set up more roundtable discussions, panel debates and on-stage interviews.

Action Network Groups: These small, targeted sessions will meet to produce a set of recommendations for each field – recommendations that will be published after the conference.
