CoActiv Presents Affordable RIS at RSNA

Affordable RIS
PACS solutions
CoActiv, RIDGEFIELD, Conn. is known for its IT expertise and image and data management and workflow solutions including EXAM-PACS®, a state-of-the-art, web-based PACS. Now the company is launching an affordable EXAM-RIS product at RSNA (booth #7544).

The application promises sophisticated features like scheduling and report tracking but at a much lower cost than many competitors.

"It's a whole new RIS...we developed three new versions of a RIS, aimed at three market places," explained CEO Edward Heere.

At last year's RSNA, the company introduced its EXAM-PACS Essentials, a solid, no-frills system for practices like small orthopedics offices. The bundled hardware and software sells for $15,000, an incredibly low price that led to significant sales.

"They also needed a RIS and there was nothing in that price range," Heere said. "So this year we made EXAM-RIS Essentials™, which is the low end of our exam RIS suite. It sells for $15,000 so providers can have the complete RIS PACS for $30,000 fully integrated and working together for a small imaging center."

The unheard of low prices of the well engineered solutions from CoActiv have resulted in an 80% sales growth since last year.

"As compensation is being cut back and funds are less available to imaging centers and even hospitals, they are looking for lower priced alternatives that offer the latest features and functionality and state of the art for less money. That is driving them right to us," he said.

Also at RSNA, watch for their EXAM-RIS Enterprise™, a full-function, scalable system aimed at multiple sites. "We have not announced the price but it will be exceptionally affordable," Heere promised.

Another product, EXAM-TELRIS™, is a practice management solution geared toward teleradiology.

"We understand the market because we have been making a PACS for those three markets for years. Now what we are doing is making a RIS to go along with the PACS," Heere said. "We have always been ahead of the curve. We are a small company that can respond quickly."
