Mobile GE Discovery STE16 PET/CT
The GE Discovery STE16 Whole Body PET/CT System is a Computed Tomography and Positron Emission Tomography scanner. The system combines the high performance LightSpeed 16 slice CT with enhanced performance PET that is suited for 2D, 3D and 4D oncology, cardiology and neurology clinical studies, yet powerful and flexible enough far research applications. Discovery STE16 has capabilities for imaging most PET tracers and provides excellent image quality, high throughput, easy operator interaction and proven reliability. A 70cm wide bore and optional Radiation Therapy couch make the Discovery STE (1 system well suited for Whole Body Oncology and Radiation Therapy, Discovery STE 16 con be used as on integrated PET/CT scanner or as a standalone high quality diagnostic CT scanner.
The GE Discovery STE16 consists of the following parts:
• One integrated gantry containing slip ring design CT X-Roy tube & 16 slice detector. 24 PET detector rings of bismuth germanote (BGO) crystals, high-speed acquisition electronics and PET image reconstruction system with scalable high performance array processor system and reconstruction algorithms.
• One patient imaging table with extended dual patient scan range, head holder, patient security straps and comfort accessories
• One fully integrated console featuring:
• Large screen interface for controlling scan acquisition easily
• Complete protocol-driven scan control
• Highly flexible editing tools that allow easy tailoring of the exam to the patient

The Discovery STE PET/CT Scanner System can perform most CT Clinical applications that do not require till due to its wide variety of scan modes
Helical:
• Slip ring technology has advanced axial scanning by enabling scans with zero inter scan delay with simultaneous table movement
• Continuous 360 degree scanning with table incrementation and no inter-scan delay
• Scans can be acquired with a wide variety of speeds.
Axial:
• Up to 16 contiguous axial planes acquired simultaneously with each 360 degree rotation, with the time between scans set by the user-selected inter-scan delay (ISD) or inter-group delay (IGD)
• Scans may be easily clustered in groups to allow multiple scans in a single breath hold
• Minimum scan-to -scan cycle time of only 1.5 sec with table moves of 610 mm (any scan time)
