It is the only base unit of its kind inherently capable of simultaneously interfacing with multiple peripherals to guide patients through seamless vital sign retrieval. While the Sentry III is lighter than its predecessors at just three pounds, its capabilities far outweigh those of other systems. It allows patients to use "standard" vital sign measurement tools to gather heart rate, blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation and body weight and temperature information, and combine them with one or more of four new peripheral components such as a spirometer, blood glucose meter, PT/INR and optional video conferencing capability. This means that health care facilities can customize patient treatment, including addressing the needs of individuals suffering from multiple chronic illnesses. And the Sentry III works quickly, collecting all data in just three minutes -- about half the time of other systems.
Another key advantage of the Sentry III is its multi-lingual capability, which allows health care facilities to meet the needs of even the most ethnically diverse communities. While the system's voice commands are pre-programmed in English, Spanish and French, individual units also can be set up to deliver instructions to specific patients in their native tongues. The Sentry III also can be programmed to ask up to 10 subjective questions pertinent to a patient's particular illness, once all vital sign data has been collected.
Additionally, the Sentry III features an LED screen to visually guide patients through commands when needed -- even in the dark.
