Five Minutes in Healthcare is where I discuss current events with some of the industry's most influential leaders, as well as innovative thinkers who are working to meet the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Over the last week I have had the pleasure of speaking to Dr. Jessica Zitter, Nigel Thorpe, and Sim Shain.

In this installment, I check in with Dr. Jessica Zitter, an advocate for humanism in medicine who practices critical and palliative care at a public hospital in Oakland, California. We discuss how we can integrate humanism more in healthcare and her new documentary, "Caregiver: A Love Story".

"Caregiver: A Love Story" follows Rick as caregiver to his wife, Bambi, as she spends the final weeks of her life at home in hospice care. It is meant to raise awareness about the support that healthcare and family caregivers require.

More information on the film can be found at https://caregiveralovestory.com/.

In this installment, I check in with Nigel Thorpe, the technical director of SecureAge, an enterprise government data security company. We discuss cyber attempts to disrupt the distribution of the Pfizer vaccine, how computer systems can help with vaccine delivery, and tips for how individuals and facilities can protect computer networks against online attacks.

In this installment, I check in with Sim Shain, CEO of ParaFlight EMS and Aviation, a company that facilitates the transport of organ transplants, medical teams and organ recipients. We discuss the challenges of organ transplant, how the company coordinates flights for organ transplants and medical teams, and the impact of COVID-19 on the transplant business.
