Five Minutes in Healthcare is where I discuss current events with some of the industry's most influential leaders, as well as innovative thinkers who are working to meet the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Over the last week I have had the pleasure of speaking to Dr. Padmini Murthy, Matthew Michela and Dr. Craig Escudé.

In this installment, I check in with Dr. Padmini Murthy, professor and global health director at New York Medical College School of Health and Sciences. She is also the secretary general of the Medical Women’s International Association, as well as the American Medical Women's Association, both of which she represents to the United Nations.

We talk about Dr. Murthy's new book, which examines the role of technology in promoting public health, and the big picture challenges facing global efforts to advocate women's health and wellbeing.

In this installment, I check back in with a friend of our news, Matthew Michela, president and CEO of Life Image, to discuss the ways COVID-19 has highlighted the shortcomings in data sharing and how the cloud can help resolve these issues going forward.

Last year, Matthew contributed an article to our news on effective use of real world evidence (RWE) in healthcare, and the major hurdles that can get in the way. During the summer, we spoke about the importance of interoperability when it comes to medical data.

In this installment, I check in with Dr. Craig Escudé, president of Health Risk Screening, about the challenges of providing care to individuals with an intellectual or developmental disability (IDD) and how new tools can support those efforts. Recognizing the needs of patients with IDDs is especially important during COVID-19.

We hope you enjoy the videos. Please tell us what you think, and let us know who you would like to see interviewed next!
