Five Minutes in Healthcare is a new series we've introduced in HealthCare Business News, where I discuss current events with some of the industry's most influential leaders, as well as innovative thinkers who are working to meet the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

In this installment we speak to Scot Mackeil, a senior certified biomedical equipment technician (CBET) at Massachusetts General Hospital and 2018 AAMI BMET of the Year, about how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted his facility, and his role as a biomed leader.

In addition to discussing the fundamental, unchanging goals of biomedical equipment technicians, Mackeil talks about some of the special tasks that he's been assigned during the crisis and some of the sage advice that has helped him succeed in his role.
