The 60th annual SNMMI conference took place this year in Vancouver. I have to say that Vancouver is a really nice city. The weather is great, there is no humidity and everyone seems to lead a healthy lifestyle riding bikes and enjoying the outdoors.

There were a lot of interesting products at the show this year as well. I saw a new mini cyclotron used for producing N-13 ammonia from a company called IONETIX. Siemens Healthcare had two big unveils: a more advanced PET/CT system and a totally integrated SPECT/CT system that the company is branding as a new modality called xSPECT. I noticed that a lot of people from outside North American were in attendance too. An official final count put attendance for this year at 5,700. A SNMMI spokesperson told us that individuals from the U.S. and Canada accounted for 3,478 attendees, leaving 2,263 from countries outside of North America. Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and China were the countries with the most attendees from outside of North America.

Everyone was busy during the show because the people there were serious buyers instead of just shoppers. The companies I spoke with were all happy with the sales they made.
